Sometimes that means helping someone make sense of documents when English is a barrier. Other times, it’s simply sitting down for a cuppa and listening when life feels overwhelming.
One recent afternoon at the Foodbank, a client approached Noni for help with a large utility bill she couldn’t manage. They sat together over a cup of tea and talked it through. As the conversation unfolded, it became clear there was more beneath the surface. Her husband was undergoing cancer treatment, and she was carrying both emotional strain and financial pressure.
Noni listened, then helped connect her with additional support services and arranged practical assistance, including firewood and other essential supplies.
All the client could manage at the time was a quiet “thank you.” But the weight she had been carrying was visible—and over the following months, Noni saw a gradual change. Her posture lifted, her expression softened, and the heaviness of worry began to ease.
Every donation helps make moments like this possible—keeping people connected, supported, and seen within their community.
