And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
As we start 2021 we can be encouraged as our God is a God of new beginnings.
Like any new year there comes with it good times, joy, celebrations, grateful thanks, the inevitable ups and downs, and times of sadness and challenge. We can however, give thanks that our trust is in God and we do not walk alone in any circumstance.
Paul's words promise that God is working out His purposes for His people, in both the good and the challenging times and we can rejoice because God is in control.
We tend to forget that He is an ever-present Father who is available, active, and breathes life into us. It is too easy to become buried in the darkness of what distracts us; for our sense of reality and view of God to become clouded. Whether it be selfishness, addiction, greed, viewing ourselves too highly, or trying to control everything on our own - these behaviours lead to distraction and pull our focus away from Jesus, giving the false impression that He is distant.
My prayer for this year is that we will live out the life-giving hope and peace with others that only comes from God; rejoicing always, praying continually, and giving thanks in all circumstances (see 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). Let us keep our eyes on Jesus as together we work to reconnect, rebuild and restore communities.
Thank you for partnering with us in prayer; when God's people pray, great and wondrous things happen!
